When simplifying Luis Barragan’s residence, I tried to think of a major gesture he uses. The main gesture that came to mind was the stacking of boxes. I had started to explore this idea in my sightlines model but was able to just focus on it in this model. One of the main reasons this gesture is so prominent is because he is consistent with making every room feel like its own individual box, even the hallways are box like. Since my main idea for the model was to show the simplified boxes stacking on top of each other, I decided to use wood because it reflects the simplicity of wooden toy blocks.
