The main goal I wanted to accomplish in the utensil project was to make something that was collapsible so that in theory it could be packed and taken anywhere easily. Instead of simply doing this in a similar way to existing collapsible spoons, I constructed it so that when it collapses it forms a square shape. When unfolded this creates a stepped effect that a hand can grip. I also chose to make the divot for the spoon round to contrast all the straight, angular lines used in the rest of the piece. This spoon is made out of basswood.
